It's Birthday Season at 17 Bottles Of.
First of all...for Lauren (July 9) and Ursula (July 20), the "unbirthday" song from Alice in Wonderland since it's...you know...not actually their birthdays today. The rest of us were negligent, and we apologize.
And for Erica, whose birthday is today -- a personal wish from the one and only Paul McCartney:

I woke up in the middle of the night a few evenings ago, horrified that I didn't post anything for LJ--SORRY PEOPLE. I can only remember my own and Signe's as it falls on a national holiday. The facebook updates seem to go in one thought and out another.
That's exactly what happened to me yesterday, Jamie. I was in the middle of sending Erica a FB birthday greeting and the wave of horror swept over me re: nada on the blog. I have gotten really bad about this sort of thing in my old age. First I stopped making birthday phone calls, then I stopped mailing cards, and now, evidently, I've even stopped doing the lazy digital homage. Next year, I have to do better. The internets make it too easy to be lazy.
Yeah, y'alls pretty much suck.
But then, ahem, I am not one to talk. I had a birthday gift for Sig from back when I lived in Oregon.. like 5 years ago. And despite seeing her a several times since then, I never managed to actually give it to her. This winter I finally gave it (ha, still wrapped even!) to the Vets of America in a donation pile along with a bunch of old clothes. :)
So.. yeah. Don't sweat it. But if you forget again next year, you both are SO dead to me.
I have suspicions that if I didn't bring up my birthday a million times a day for a week before, my family would forget mine. It's happened...and that sucked so bad that I now make it impossible for them to forget.
Don't worry, this is not the sort of thing I get offended by. I never remember anybody else's birthday, so why would I get offended if they don't remember mine?
I've come to realize that if I build up my birthday in my own mind, no matter what happens, I will be somehow let down. So, I do my best to try to see the day as any other day. I can't do that 100%, but it helps me appreciate the things that do go well that day.
So, on my birthday this year, I went to work, got shit done, got a plant from my mom, came back to Berkeley, had dinner with friends, then went to see Jesus Christ Superstar, as performed by youth (high school to [traditional] college age), which was very good.
